CKEditor 4 alternative

Replacing CKEditor 4 (end of life June 2023) without a license key.

CKEditor 4 reached end of life in June 2023; security fixes now come only with paid LTS. Moving to CKEditor 5 means a new architecture and a license key for commercial sites. For screens that store HTML, 82editor is the closer replacement.

<textarea name="content" id="content"></textarea>
<link rel="stylesheet" href="https://82editor.com/cdn/v1.0.0/82editor.css">
<script src="https://82editor.com/cdn/v1.0.0/82editor.min.js"></script>
<script>
  const editor = Editor82.createEditor('#content', { height: 400, uploadUrl: '/upload' });
</script>

CKEditor 4	82editor
`getData()` / `setData()`	`getHTML()` / `setHTML()`
`updateElement()`	Not needed (textarea stays in sync)
`filebrowserUploadUrl`	`uploadUrl`; the reply's `url` is read, so CKEditor 4 upload endpoints keep working
